Products

I have spent a lot of money trying all kinds of products... Hopefully, this will help you ~

Diapers: Pampers Sensitive
Diapers are very difficult for an EB baby. They ALL cause some type of issue. Cloth diapers are a mess (you cannot use the plastic cover) and they still cause friction. Regular diapers have too much elastic and are just too harsh. I have only been able to use Pampers Sensitive New Baby, blanket soft, and I still cut out the elastic!

Diaper creams: Balmex / A&D
I have used them all and most work great, but only one is easy to wipe off. And when your little one blisters from a diaper change this means a great deal! I use Balmex when a rash is present... And A&D at every diaper change without a rash.

Wipes:
I only use sensitive wipes. But some are better than others. I would buy the pampers sensitive and thought I was getting the best. Then the store was out and I got Wal-Mart brand... They work great! Thick, gentle and smell better too!

Blister Care: Needles
As soon as I see a blister forming I drain it with a sterile needle. You may run into problems getting needles from your local RX. If you have any issues you can get a prescription from your doctor to keep on file at the pharmacy you choose.

Blister Care: Ointments
After the blister is drained I apply an ointment to keep the skin soft. Scabs are the #1 enemy of persons with EB! A scab can cause a healing blister to create 5 more new blisters. Keep them moist at all times for best healing.

I also use freshly expressed breastmilk on all scabs. It works wonders! When we first brought home our son we noticed he got blisters under his bottom lip from the bottle. These blisters would heal faster than the others. We were puzzled... He only gets expressed breastmilk. So I thought why not try it on the other blisters and see what happens. They heal much faster.
